"My client was a homebound elderly woman looking for someone to read the Bible to her because her eyesight was poor; and I was a young married woman, looking for a way to help an elderly person in the community who needed some companionship. She has taught me how to face illness and death with grace, strength, and peace. She has shown me that everyone faces hard times in their lives, but with God's help you can get through anything. She has shown me that loving others is the best way to make my faith real - to show it to the world. Friendly visitation can literally change the life of someone who is lonely, homebound, or disabled. The only thing I needed to do was be myself." - a visitation volunteer |
